Camano Island ,SC :Motorcyclist Killed and Island County deputy injured in head-on crash on Saturday afternoon ,September 12th 2015

A motorcyclist is dead and an Island County deputy was injured in a head-on crash on Camano Island Saturday afternoon.

The motorcyclist was going on S. Camano Drive when he failed to negotiate a curve, crossed the center-line and collided with an Island County patrol car at S. Awa Lane, according to Trooper Mark Francis with the Washington State Patrol.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The deputy was taken to Providence Hospital in Everett with non-life-threatening injuries, Francis said.

The area was expected to be closed to traffic into Saturday evening for the crash investigation.

Troopers haven't released the name of the victim.
