Muhlenburg County, KY : 55-year-old Johnny Lanier injured in ATV accident on KY 853 near Greenville on Saturday, Aug 8, 2015

A Greenville man was injured after his ATV overturned in Muhlenberg County on Saturday.

It happened around 3:30 p.m. on KY 853, approximately five miles south of Greenville.

Kentucky State Police say 55-year-old Johnny Lanier was traveling south in a 2005 Polaris Sportsman ATV.

As he was negotiating a curve, troopers say the ATV experienced a mechanical issue and Lanier lost control.

The ATV exited the left side of the roadway and struck a culvert.

The vehicle overturned and came to rest on top of Lanier.

Lanier was flown by PHI Air Medical to Vanderbilt Medical Center for treatment.

Troopers say he was not wearing a helmet.
