Baden,PA : A Baden man accused of crashing his vehicle into a Center Township police car on Wednesday, 6th June 2018
A Baden man accused of crashing his vehicle into a Center Township police car while driving under the influence will serve time in jail.
According to online court records, Joseph Treantafellow, 54, pleaded guilty May 23 to fleeing from police and drunken driving. He was sentenced to serve four months and 15 days in jail, followed by six months on probation, records indicate.
At the time of his arrest in March, police said Treantafellow led officers on a brief chase that resulted in a crash with a police car in Center.
According to a police report, officers were notified at about 2 a.m. March 17 of a hit-and-run on Constitution Boulevard and Monaca Road in the township. Police said a driver, later identified as Treantafellow, crashed his vehicle into a stop sign and guiderail and continued driving south on Monaca Road.
Officers soon found Treantafellow driving toward Center Grange Road. Police said officers attempted to pull him over, but he refused to stop.
After about a mile of pursuit, Trentafellow’s vehicle struck one of the police cars in the front driver-side door and fender, police said.
According to the report, Trentafellow “continued to gas the vehicle” and tried to drive off. Police said he eventually unlocked the doors to his car and was arrested.
Trentafellow failed three field sobriety tests, police said. According to the report, he refused to submit to a blood test.
Police said he was found in possession of a pipe containing residue of suspected crack cocaine.
Charges of aggravated assault, reckless driving and possession of drug paraphernalia were withdrawn, according to court records.
