Athens, TX : Two vehicles involved in a collision in west Athens on April, Sunday 16th 2017
A collision in west Athens marred a beautiful Sunday afternoon, and sent the occupants of the two vehicles involved to East Texas Medical Center with various injuries.
Athens Police Department reports said none of the injuries were life threatening.
APD Assistant Chief of Police Rodney Williams, III said the wreck occurred at about 4:15 p.m. on Sunday, when Oralia Galvez, 48, of Athens, was driving a 1997 Dodge pickup westbound in the 800 block of West Larkin Street.
As the Dodge approached the intersection of Maple Street, a 2010 Honda passenger car, driven by Alondra Robles, 20, of Athens, was headed north in the 200 block of Maple. Police reports said the driver of the Honda apparently failed to yield right of way at the intersection.
APD reports said Galvez and Robles were taken to ETMC for treatment, as were two passengers in Robles' vehicle. Williams said the passengers were an adult and a juvenile.
According to information from APD, Officer Billy Westover, Officer Wesley Hoover and Sgt. Brett Morman were dispatched to the scene for APD. The Athens Fire Department sent the Quint ladder truck and a fire engine to the wreck.
The vehicles were removed by ABC wrecker service. The last officer cleared the scene at about 5:05 p.m.
