Rochester, MN : Mabel motorcyclist killed in Iowa crash on Tuesday August 30, 2016

A 29-year-old Mabel man was killed Tuesday night when his motorcycle collided with a car in northern Iowa.

Coty Curtis Vickerman was pronounced dead after the crash, according to the Iowa State Patrol.

The crash occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Winneshiek County Road W40 near 381st Street in Hesper, about six miles south of Mabel. According to the state patrol, Vickerman was northbound when he lost control of his motorcycle and went into the southbound lane, where he collided with a vehicle driven by Damien Michael Johnson, 20, of Mabel.

Vickerman was taken to Winneshiek Medical Center by Decorah Ambulance.

A passenger in Johnson's vehicle was injured in the crash. Joseph D. Walthier, 20, of Mabel, was taken to Winneshiek Medical Center by his parents.

The crash remains under investigation, according to the state patrol.
