Black Forest, CO : Cynthia Fields, 55, killed and Ramona Williams, 46, injured in three-car crash near Burgess and Wakely Roads on Thursday, February 19, 2015

A Colorado Springs woman was killed when the vehicle she was in swerved to avoid another car and crashed in a Black Forest intersection on Thursday afternoon, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

CSP said Damon Fields, 49, of Colorado Springs, was driving a 2015 Hyundai west on Burgess Road near the intersection of Wakely Road when he attempted to avoid a 2009 Nissan driven by Bridgette Martin, 45, of Colorado Springs. Martin was driving east on Burgess and making a left turn on to Wakely when Fields attempted to avoid the Nissan.

The Hyundai hit the left rear of Martin's car, then crashed head-on into a Mercedes-Benz traveling east on Burgess, according to CSP.

Cynthia Fields, 55, of Colorado Springs, was taken to Penrose Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, state patrol said.

Damon Fields was hospitalized with minor injuries. Martin and a passenger in the Nissan were not injured. The driver of the Mercedes, Ramona Williams, 46, of Colorado Springs, was hospitalized with moderate injuries. A passenger in the Mercedes was not injured.
