Pleasant Township, OH : Grove City teen dies after car hits utility pole in southwestern Franklin County on Saturday night, April 30, 2016

A Grove City teenager was killed Saturday night after the car he was riding in crashed into a utility pole in Pleasant Township, in southwestern Franklin County.

Derrick V. Norwood, 17, died at Mount Carmel Grove City hospital, according to the Franklin County sheriff's office.

The crash happened around 9:15 p.m. on Beatty Road, west of Route 62. Norwood was riding in a Honda Civic driven by Weston C. Baker, 18, of Mount Sterling. Baker lost control of the car and it ran off the road, striking the pole, the office said.

Baker was not injured.

Both were wearing seatbelts.

The Franklin County sheriff's office is still investigating the crash and had no other information Sunday morning.
