Prosser,WA : One man dead, two others in critical condition following Prosser crash on September, Tuesday 26th 2017

One man is dead, two people in critical condition following a two-car crash off Hwy 221 south of Prosser Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters say they responded to Hwy 221 and Burt James Road, just south of Prosser, around 4:00 p.m. to find two cars involved in a deadly crash. They say one person had to be air lifted to the hospital in critical condition, the other taken by ambulance also in critical condition. A third person involved died at the scene.

Crews did not have any details about what lead up to the crash and did not release any information about the people involved.

Investigators closed Highway 221 at Burt James Road and it is not expected to be reopened until 8:00 p.m. in the southbound lanes. A detour may be in place for the northbound lanes, but firefighters are asking drivers to avoid the area.

Washington State Patrol is handling the investigation and we expect to get more details Wednesday morning. Benton County Sheriff deputies also assisted with the crash.
