Gaston County police say a Dallas man was driving drunk and without a valid license when he crashed into a ditch Friday night.
Robert Allen Willocks, 36, of 337 Springs Road, faces charges of driving while impaired and driving with a revoked license.
Gaston County Police Officer N.D. Jamoulis responded to the scene of a wreck about 10:20 p.m. Friday along Charles Raper Jonas Highway in Stanley, where a 1996 Ford had run off the road and into a ditch. He spoke with Willocks at the scene and detected an odor of alcohol coming from his breath, according to an affidavit.
Willocks was transported to the Gaston County Jail, where he took a breath test and was found to have a blood-alcohol content of 0.11. The minimum blood-alcohol level required for a drunken driving charge in North Carolina is 0.08.
Willocks, who was previously convicted of driving while impaired in 2003, was held at the Gaston County Jail on a $5,000 secured bond.
