Jefferson City,MO : 1 dead, 4 injured in mulit-car crash on I-55 near Imperial on December, Saturday 9th 2017

An 18-year-old man was killed and four others were injured in a three-car crash on Interstate 55 Saturday night.

The Missouri Highway Patrol says that Cody Dowd of Pevely got out of his 2005 Nissan Altima after a crash with a 2006 Kia Optima in the southbound lanes of I-55 around 10:15 p.m. Saturday.

Dowd's Altima was facing west in one lane of the highway and the other car was on the left shoulder, facing north.

Police say that's when a third vehicle — a 2017 Toyota Camry — struck Dowd's car, which spun into him as he stood between the two cars that were involved in the initial crash.

Dowd died at St. Anthony's Medical Center less than an hour later.

The driver of the Kia Optima suffered serious injuries from the crash, and three people in the Toyota Camry were also injured, ranging in severity.
