Lorain, OH : Man hurt in Columbia Township truck crash on Sunday, December, 17th 2017
An Elyria man was hurt when the truck he was driving went off the road, causing him to hit his head on the windshield in the crash, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
About 12:44 p.m. Dec. 17, Tanner Hendrix, 19, was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Colorado heading eastbound on Osborne Road in Columbia Township, according to a report from the Patrol.
The truck went off the right side of the road, struck a driveway embankment and became partially airborne, the report said. The truck continued through several yards and struck a tree, according to the Patrol.
Hendrix apparently was not wearing a seatbelt and the impact caused him to strike the windshield, “resulting in a serious injury,” according to the Patrol.
A rescue crew from Columbia Station Fire/EMS took Hendrix to Southwest General Hospital in Middleburg Heights, according to the Patrol.
It was unclear why the truck went off the road. Hendrix was the only occupant in the truck and there were no other vehicles involved, according to the Patrol.
No charges were filed but the crash remained under investigation on Dec. 17.
