Nashville, TN : TDOC bus driver injured in crash outside hospital on Albion Street on Wednesday morning, April 20, 2016

A Tennessee Department of Correction bus was involved in a minor crash on Wednesday morning.

According to a TDOC official, the bus was taking prisoners to see doctors at Nashville General Hospital on Albion Street.

The driver dropped all the prisoners off at the hospital and had exited the bus when the driver noticed the bus was starting to roll.

That's when the driver jumped back in the bus and turned it onto the sidewalk, causing the bus to hit a concrete barrier.

The driver has minor injuries after his ankle was pinned between the bus and the wall.

“We have 20,000 inmates behind our walls. We have multiple buses that are available, so another one will come pick them up at the end of their appointments and then take them on to their respective facilities,” said Neysa Taylor, director of communications with TDOC.

A state mechanic will be looking at the bus to determine the cause of the crash.
