Topeka,KS : Alcohol may have caused late night Topeka injury crash on December, Sunday 31st 2017
Police say alcohol is suspected as being a contributing factor in an injury crash that sent one person to the hospital.
Just before midnight, Topeka officers responded to an injury accident at SW Croix St. and SW Topeka Blvd. When they arrived on scene they found a severely damaged van occupied by an adult male and a pickup truck occupied by an adult male driver and three children.
Police quickly checked on all occupants and found the driver of the van was suffering from potential life-threatening injuries. The driver and children of the pickup were not seriously hurt, according to police, and were treated and released by AMR on scene.
The driver of the mangled van had to be removed by the Topeka Fire Department, worsened by the extreme cold weather and wind. The driver was then taken to an area hospital where police say he is now listed in stable condition.
The southbound lanes of Topeka Blvd. and SW Croix were closed for a few hours while officers worked the scene.
