Goshen, IN : Elkhart man airlifted following crash on Wednesday, January 4th 2017
A head-on crash at C.R.s 38 and 9 at 4:19 p.m. Wednesday, injured two Elkhart men — one who had to be airlifted to South Bend Memorial.
According to Elkhart County Ptl. Joshua Whitehead, Wilber Canenguez, 41, Elkhart, was driving a 1992 Honda Accord east on C.R. 38 and attempted to turn north onto C.R. 9, not yielding the way for westbound traffic.
Whitehead reported that when Canenguez started his left turn, his car was struck in the front passenger side by the front driver’s side of a 2012 Mazda 6I driven by David Blank, 27, Elkhart.
Canenguez complained of pain to his entire body and was airlifted to South Bend Memorial by Medflight. Canenguez was also found to have a suspended driver’s license, the deputy reported. Canenguez was cited for failure to yield the right of way at an intersection and for driving while suspended-infraction.
Blank suffered pain to his neck and shoulders and was taken to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment.
