Witnesses told police a man in a white 1990s model BMW was speeding and weaving in and out of traffic just prior to the crash. There were no other vehicles involved in the crash.

"He lost control of his vehicle. It rotated and went to its final resting spot. It was rotating out of control and hit the light pole. The damage to the vehicle is catastrophic. It cut it basically in half," Metro's Sgt. Richard Strader said.
