Salix ,PA ;western Pennsylvania businessman killed after fire that began while driving car on Saturday,August 1st 2015
Police say a western Pennsylvania businessman was drunk when his moving car caught on fire, eventually killing him.
Adams Township police say another motorist noticed Michael Beaver's car was burning as he drove along Route 160 about 10:30 p.m. Saturday. The motorist pulled alongside Beaver to alert him of the fire, and Beaver pulled over but was apparently overcome by fumes from the fire and unable to escape.
Cambria County Deputy Coroner Jeffrey Lees says the 60-year-old Croyle Township man had a blood-alcohol content more than twice the legal limit for drivers. Lees says the intoxication "definitely was a factor in this accident."
Beaver was a veteran of the U.S. Army Special Forces and was president of a company that owned several Wendy's restaurants in the Johnstown-Windber area.
