Torrance, CA : Man arrested after pursuit ends in injury crash in Torrance on Wednesday, 21st August 2019

A man was in custody after leading police on a short pursuit that ended with a crash in Torrance on Wednesday, Aug. 21, authorities said.

Torrance officers were made aware of the stolen vehicle through an Automated License Plate Reader hit and attempted a traffic stop about 11:25 a.m. in the area of 179th Street and Glenburn Avenue, Sgt. Paul Kranke said.

The driver refused to stop and led officers on a brief pursuit heading north on Crenshaw Boulevard before he crashed into a Metro bus at 168th Street, Kranke said.

The suspect was uninjured and taken into custody. A passenger on the bus complained of pain, but it wasn’t immediately known if that person was taken to a hospital.

Further information about the suspect was not immediately available.
