Oxford, MS : Injuries reported in crash at Route 20 east and Pioneer Drive on Thursday, 18th July 2019

OXFORD - A police pursuit that began in Spencer ended Thursday night when a pickup truck collided with a tractor-trailer at Route 20 east and Pioneer Drive.

According to Spencer police, the pursuit stemmed from the investigation of a domestic dispute on Church Street earlier in the evening. Spencer Officer Christopher Snow saw the truck reportedly involved in the domestic dispute stopped on Route 31. When police approached, the driver drove away and led police on a slow-speed pursuit that proceeded from Route 31 to Route 20, where the pickup truck collided with the tractor-trailer.

The driver of the pickup was taken to a local hospital with injuries, and according to police will face charges related to the domestic dispute and the pursuit.

Police cruisers and fire trucks lined the road around 10:30 p.m. Thursday. A heavily damaged white pickup truck sat yards from a damaged tractor-trailer. A Spencer police cruiser was also there.

As firefighters packed up, police investigated the crash. Route 20 east was initially shut down but was reopened to traffic around 10:40 p.m.

Oxford police reported on social media that the crash involved injuries, but didn’t release further information Thursday night.
