A 24-year-old woman suffered minor injuries in a single-vehicle collision Tuesday morning, Jan. 24, on N.C. 133 near Southport.
A passing motorist discovered the crash, which was reported at 5:54 a.m., North Carolina State Highway Patrol Trooper David Inman said.
The woman was driving her gray 2006 Pontiac G6 north on N.C. 133/River Road when she swerved to avoid a deer that had darted into the road, Inman said. She lost control of the car, veered off the right side of the road and hit several trees before rolling over into a ditch on the side of the road.
