Orofino,ID : McCall teen dies when vehicle crashes into Salmon River on April, Saturday 28th 2018

Katelyn J. Thayer, 17 of McCall, was killed in a vehicle accident 2.4 miles up the Salmon River Road on Saturday evening April 21, 2018.

At approximately 9 p.m. the Idaho County Sheriff’s Dispatch Center received a report that a vehicle had crashed and was upside down in the river.

While responding, Riggins Ambulance was met by a vehicle transporting 17 year old Alaska Frandsen, of Malad. Frandsen was ejected from the vehicle and witnesses transported her to meet the ambulance.

Frandsen advised responders there were multiple persons in the vehicle. While uprighting the vehicle, persons reported to be in the vehicle arrived on scene.

Thayer was removed from the vehicle and was deceased. No other victims have been located and investigators believe Frandsen and Thayer were the only occupants of the vehicle.

At this time it is undetermined who was driving the vehicle and the investigation is continuing.
