POLK COUNTY, FL : 1 killed, 2 hurt in crash near Haines City on Wednesday, 3rd July 2024

A three-vehicle crash Wednesday near Haines City killed a woman and left two other people with serious injuries, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash occurred around 3:47 p.m. on U.S. 27 at Morrison Ranch Road, the sheriff’s office said on social media.

The driver of a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt — identified as Katrina Moore, 64, of Haines City — lost control of the vehicle while traveling south on U.S. 27 and crossed the median, entering northbound lanes and striking a 2023 Dodge Durango in a head-on crash that ejected Moore from the Chevrolet, the post states. After the impact, both vehicles collided with 1997 Kenworth truck, deputies said.
