LYONS, WI : Motorcyclist killed in crash near Burlington on Saturday, 15th October 2016
A McHenry, Ill., man was killed Saturday afternoon after two motorcycles collided on a rural road located between Burlington and Lake Geneva.
According to the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and the Lyons Fire and Rescue Department were dispatched at 3:09 p.m. to a report of a motorcycle crash on South Road approximately 0.3 miles north of Highway 50. The crash scene is about 5 miles southwest of Burlington.
First responders located a red Boss Hoss motorcycle lying on its side. The driver of the motorcycle was identified as Timothy Adkins, 57, of McHenry. He was pronounced dead at the scene by staff from the Walworth County Medical Examiner’s Office.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, a preliminary investigation revealed that Adkins was traveling southbound on South Road. While attempting to negotiate a curve, he lost control of his motorcycle, striking a second southbound motorcycle. The second motorcycle was driven by a 38-year-old man from McHenry. He had a passenger on his bike, a 36-year-old woman from Orlando, Fla. Neither were injured, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
As of Sunday afternoon, the crash remained under investigation by the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office Crash Investigation Team.
