Two people were killed and one was injured Sunday in separate accidents where vehicles veered off the road in curves, Arkansas State Police said.
The latest accident occurred at 9:15 p.m. on Arkansas 5 in Saline County, according to a police report.
Troopers said Terri Castile, 53, of Little Rock was driving north in her 2004 Chevrolet when she left the road in a curve and landed in an embankment. Castile was thrown from the vehicle, and a passenger, 48-year-old Jimmy Herring of Little Rock,
was injured in the crash.
Castile suffered fatal injuries. Herring was taken to UAMS Medical Center for treatment, police said.
Another accident happened at 12:40 p.m. on Arkansas 9 in Perry County, according to a report.
Harry Gunther, 59, of Roland died after his Toyota Tundra sped off the road in a curve and hit a tree, police said.
Weather and road conditions were described as clear and dry at the time of the accidents.
The deaths were the 167th and 168th reported on an Arkansas road this year, according to preliminary police information.
