Washington County, MO : Charles W. Benoist, 62, killed in a car-motorcycle crash on Highway 21 near Caledonia on Monday afternoon, June 6, 2016

Charles W. Benoist, 62, of Bonne Terre, was killed Monday afternoon in a car-motorcycle crash in Washington County near Caledonia, the Missouri Highway Patrol said.

Benoist, riding a Victory Vegas motorcycle, was northbound on Highway 21 north of Buford Road at about 2:20 p.m. when he failed to negotiate a right curve and crossed the center line, striking a southbound Volvo C70 head-on. Benoist was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a helmet, the patrol said.

Lorelei N. Christie, 24, of Belleview, the driver of the Volvo, suffered moderate injuries and was taken to a hospital. Two passengers in her car, a 5-year-old boy and a 30-year-old man, suffered minor injuries and were also taken to a hospital. They were all wearing seat belts.
