LAWRENCEVILLE, VA : 2 fatal crashes investigated in Virginia's Brunswick County on Saturday, 5th November 2016
Virginia State Police say two people were killed in separate car crashes in Brunswick County.
The agency said in a news release that the first crash occurred Saturday on Interstate 85 near Rawlings. Troopers say 18-year-old Destiny Freeman of Lorton was driving south when her car ran off the interstate, struck a tree and overturned.
Police say a passenger, 18-year-old Amari Newton of Alexandria, died at the scene.
Troopers say the second crash occurred Sunday on Route 58, just east of Route 720. Police say 20-year-old Mekiel Banks of Chicago was driving east his car ran off the highway, struck a culvert, struck two trees and came to rest in the median.
Authorities say a passenger, 26-year-old Howard Griffin Jr. of Nashville, Tennessee, was pronounced dead at the scene.
