Shirley, NY : One person killed in four-car crash on Tuesday night August 11th 2015

One person was killed and another charged with drunk while impaired by drugs following a four-car crash on Long Island.

Suffolk County police say it happened on the William Floyd Parkway in Shirley Tuesday night.

The driver charged with driving while impaired also was charged with leaving the scene of an accident.

According to Newsday, police said he ran off after the accident and officers pursued him on foot for a short distance before arresting him.

The crash occurred when a car going north on the parkway was struck by the drunk driver going east on Montauk Highway. Two other cars traveling northbound on William Floyd and a third car going west on Montauk also were hit.
