Los Angeles ,CA : 43- years old John Johnson killed after his motorcycle struck a median curb and struck by car on Saturday morning ,May 9th 2015
A 43-year-old man was killed Saturday morning when the motorcycle he was riding on the Santa Monica (10) Freeway in downtown Los Angeles struck a median curb, causing him to be ejected onto the roadway, where he was then struck by a car.
The crash happened just before 1 a.m. on the westbound side of the freeway, according to a California Highway Patrol report.
The rider, identified by the coroner’s office as John Johnson of Laguna Niguel, was aboard a 2007 Suzuki GSXR sport bike that struck the raised concrete curb of the median separating the main portion of the westbound freeway with a collector road on which the motorcycle had been traveling, according to the CHP.
After being ejected into the number four lane, the rider was struck by a 1991 Honda CRX driven by an 18-year-old Santa Fe, New Mexico man. The Honda was traveling about 65 mph, the CHP reported.
That driver was not injured.
It’s unclear if the rider’s fatal injuries happened after he was ejected from the bike or when he was struck by the Honda.
