Racine,WI : Man accused of causing crash while fleeing police on January, Monday 8th 2018
A Racine man faces three criminal charges after allegedly fleeing a traffic stop, according to the Racine County District Attorney’s office.
Jeremy R. Frison, 31, of the 700 block of Center Street, was charged Monday in connection with a Friday incident that reportedly started when a Racine Police Department officer attempted to pull him over for running a red light. A criminal complaint shows Frison now faces felony charges of fleeing an officer in a manner that caused bodily injury and felony hit-and-run with injury and a misdemeanor count of criminal trespass.
According to the complaint:
At about 4:36 p.m. Friday, a Racine police officer tried to pull Frison over for allegedly failing to stop at the light on State Street at North Memorial Drive. Frison paused briefly but then fled south on North Memorial toward West Sixth Street.
Police allege Frison did not stop when the officer turned on his siren and emergency lights. He then drove through another traffic light and crossed into oncoming traffic multiple times. Frison reportedly struck another vehicle before stopping at a retaining wall in the 1500 block of South Memorial Drive.
He then fled the car, and police pursued him on foot, including over a 4-foot chain-link fence, eventually toward a South Memorial Drive home. Police allege Frison entered the home. Someone inside told officers Frison was on the couch, according to police. Officers then went inside and detained him.
Frison reportedly told police he was thirsty when asked why he fled.
A driver involved in a crash related to the chase reportedly hurt his back and was treated at the hospital, according to the complaint. Four vehicles at the scene had notable damage, police stated.
A preliminary hearing in Frison’s case is scheduled for Jan. 17, court records show. He remained in jail as of Monday afternoon, according to the complaint.
