Joplin,MO : Eight injured in area traffic accidents on Thursday, 27th October, 2016

Four residents of Mindenmines sustained minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash at 3:30 p.m. Thursday on U.S. Highway 160, a half-mile west of Mindenmines in Barton County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Both drivers involved, Dillon M. Coleman, 21, and Megan A. Keller, 17, along with a passenger in Coleman's pickup truck, Crystal L. Coleman, 28, and a passenger in Keller's car, Madison A. Keller, 16, were taken to Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, Kansas.

Coleman's eastbound truck ran into the rear of Keller's car, the patrol said.

• Two Carthage residents were injured in a two-vehicle wreck at 3:10 p.m. Thursday on Route HH, just west of Carthage city limits, the state patrol said.

The driver of one of the vehicles, Betty J. Kester, 86, and her passenger, Clarence V. Kester, 88, were taken to Mercy Hospital Carthage with minor injuries.

Their eastbound vehicle ran into the rear of an eastbound pickup truck driven by John W. Lowery, 68, of Carthage, who was stopped at a traffic signal, the patrol said.

• A Deerfield teen was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 7:30 a.m. Thursday on Stockade Road at 575 Road in Vernon County, the state patrol said.

Kurstin L. McManis, 17, was taken to Mercy Hospital in Fort Scott, Kansas, with minor injuries.

McManis was driving an eastbound car that ran off the road on a turn and struck a utility pole, the patrol said.

• A truck driver from Illinois was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 5:15 a.m. Thursday on Route BB, 5 miles east of Carthage in Jasper County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

David L. Barton, 55, of Granite City, Illinois, was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital Joplin with moderate injuries.

Barton was driving a northbound truck rig that ran off the road and overturned, the patrol said.
