Arlington, TX : Alcohol was likely a factor in multivehicle crash that killed 1, injured 3 on early Wednesday, August 6, 2014
Eastbound lanes of Interstate 20 in Arlington were closed for a few hours after a fiery crash killed one person and caused a fuel spill.
Police say it happened between Collins Road and State Highway 360 around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday when a car clipped the back of an 18-wheeler, lost control and collided with an SUV. Both the car and SUV hit the center median.
Four passengers were removed before the vehicles caught fire. They were taken to Medical Center of Arlington in critical condition. The driver of the SUV, a woman in her 50s, died at the hospital.
The tanker was leaking fuel which had to be cleaned up by crews. The driver of the semi was not injured.
Arlington police believe speed and alcohol are factors in the crash. They say no arrests have been made at this time, but they are expecting to make at least one.
