A crash in downtown Newark following a police pursuit has left three people injured.
Newark police say officers were pursuing a suspect in a Jeep Cherokee when it crashed into another car at about 9 a.m. near the intersection of West Market Street and University Avenue.
The intersection is about three blocks from the main downtown intersection of Market and Broad streets.
Police spokesman Sgt. Ronald Glover says the suspect driving the Jeep and a woman and her son in the other vehicle were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Glover says the suspect initially fled after being approached by officers in the West Ward. It wasn't immediately known why he was approached.
