Dallas, TX : 18-wheeler loaded with cattle crashes on I-20 near Kaufman-Van Zandt County line on Saturday, 29th October 2016
A tractor-trailer carrying 88 head of cattle crashed early Saturday on westbound Interstate 20 near the Kaufman-Van Zandt County line.
The Elmo Volunteer Fire Department responded to I-20, just before the FM2965 exit, about 4 a.m., inForney.com reports. The trailer had overturned, blocking several lanes of the highway.
The driver was taken to a hospital by helicopter, the news site reports.
Kaufman County Judge Bruce Wood said 14 of the 88 cattle died or were injured.
Hours later, crews were still working to get the cattle off the trailer, Kaufman County Emergency Management Coordinator Steve Howie told inForney.com.
Traffic was diverted onto FM47.
