Mecklenburg County, NC : Driver charged with DWI in deadly wreck near Catawba River on Wednesday evening, April 20, 2016

A woman was killed and two others, including a drunk driver, were injured in a multi-vehicle crash in west Mecklenburg County Wednesday evening, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say.
The wreck happened just before 6:30 p.m. on inbound Wilkinson Blvd. coming into Mecklenburg County from Gaston County.
Police say Christopher Ryan Goss, 31, was driving a gold 1999 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck recklessly and crossed the center line, striking a blue Hyundai Elantra head-on.
Shannon Hinson Young, 45, was driving the Elantra and Joyce Burline Hinson, 72, was in the front passenger seat. Police say Hinson went to Carolinas Medical Center where she died less than an hour later.
Goss and Young both went to Carolinas Medical Center with serious injuries.
After the Chevrolet and Hyundai collided, a third car, a 2010 Hyundai Elantra, was involved. The driver of that vehicle suffered minor injuries.
Gross was charged with DWI at the hospital. He also faces felony death by motor vehicle, felony serious injury by motor vehicle and reckless driving.
Traffic was backed up as inbound Wilkinson Boulevard was closed for a time.
