Winston Salem, N.C : East Bend man dies after being involved trash crash on Wednesday, September 21, 2016

A Yadkin County man who was involved in a wreck Wednesday died of a medical condition, Winston-Salem police said Thursday.

Richard Randall Maney, 82, of East Bend didn't die of injuries sustained the crash, police said.

Maney appeared to have suffered from an unknown medical condition, which may have contributed to the collision, police said. Witnesses told officers that Maney's pickup was traveling at a low speed when it collided with a tractor-trailer in the 2800 block of Reynolda Road about noon Wednesday.

The tractor-trailer, driven by Barry Payne, 52, of Lewisville, turned off the road after the collision. Maney’s truck continued north on Reynolda Road, coming to rest against the guardrail, facing oncoming traffic.
Maney was taken to the hospital. Payne was not injured.

The Winston-Salem Police Department's traffic enforcement unit is investigating the wreck.
