CHARLOTTE, NC : Man taken into custody after chase, crash in south Charlotte on Lasalle Street near I-85 on Friday, 17th August 2018

At least one person was taken into custody after running from police and crashing into several other vehicles in south Charlotte Friday afternoon.
According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, a CMPD officer got behind a stolen vehicle on Lasalle Street near I-85.
The officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop in the parking lot of a Food Lion, but the vehicle fled.
A police helicopter began following the vehicle, but this was not a vehicle pursuit because no CMPD vehicles actually chased the car other than the helicopter.
The helicopter followed the vehicle for about 15 minutes as the people inside first drove north on I-85 and eventually went south on I-77, exiting onto Nations Ford Road.
