Arkansas City, KS : A two-vehicle accident and a citation on May, Monday, 15th 2017

Failure to yield at a stop sign led to a two-vehicle accident and a citation Monday morning in Winfield.

Claude Byrd, of Winfield, was driving a 2004 Ford Taurus eastbound on 12th Avenue when he failed to yield at a stop sign on the corner of 12th and Main Street, said Lt. Chad Gordon, of the Winfield Police Department.

Byrd collided with a 2013 Subaru Crosstrack driven by Shirley Jester, of Winfield, in the intersection.

Some minor injuries were reported, with Byrd transported to a hospital after the wreck, Gordon said. Byrd was also issued a citation.

There were no passengers and both drivers were wearing seat belts, Gordon said.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
