Berlin, MD : Fatal crash shuts down Route 50 in Berlin on Tuesday, 5th February 2019

A fatal accident has shut down Route 50 near Riddle Lane in Berlin, Maryland State Police report.

Maryland State Police, the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office and Ocean City Fire Department are at the scene of the single-vehicle crash that happened early Tuesday morning, a state police release said.

Police said a vehicle heading eastbound left the highway and struck a group of trees in the median. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene and has since been identified as 19-year-old Tyler William Birch of Ocean Pines.

Both eastbound and westbound Route 50 are shutdown at the collision scene as investigation continues, police said.
