MEMPHIS, TN : Teenager hit by car on Covington Pike on Tuesday, 20th September 2016
A 17-year-old was hit by a car early Tuesday morning in Raleigh.
The crash happened near the intersection of Covington Pike and Scheibler Road, just north of Yale Road. Emergency crews originally reported that the victim was taken to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital, but crews on the scene confirmed was actually taken to Regional Medical Center in critical condition.
Police also detained the brother of the victim, who was walking with him. His father came to the scene to pick him up.
The driver stayed on the scene. The windshield of her car was heavily damaged. She cooperated with police and left with a friend after a couple hours.
Memphis Police Department said the driver will not face any criminal charges. Their investigation showed that the 17-year-old and his brother ran across Covington Pike and the driver could not avoid them.
Also Tuesday morning, a car crashed into and killed a man who was walking his dog on the Shelby Farms Greenline
