Man dies Crash victim in Tennessee
A 34-year-old McMinnville man who was seriously injured last week in a crash, on Highway 111, in Sparta, has died.
According to Sgt. Jimmy Jones, of Tennessee Highway Patrol, Brandon Reno passed away at 1:21 a.m., Feb. 25.
Reno was involved in a crash that occurred Feb. 17, 2014, near the intersection of Valley View Drive and Millers Point Road. He was airlifted to Vanderbilt Hospital, in Nashville.
Reno’s 1998 Nissan pickup was struck by a 1995 Toyoto Corolla, which was driven by Glen Winton, 83, of Sparta.
According to Sgt. Jones, of Tennessee Highway Patrol, Winton was crossing over Highway 111 from Valley View Drive toward Millers Point Road when he struck Reno’s vehicle in the driver’s door. Sgt. Jones said the pickup spun around and overturned about two-and-a-half times. According to Jones, Reno was ejected and traveled about 50 feet from the final rest of the truck.
“I think it would have mattered if he’d had his seatbelt on, because he was ejected,” Sgt. Jones said.
Reno’s 8-year-old son was a passenger in the pickup and restrained with a seatbelt. He was treated and released from Highlands Medical Center’s emergency room.
Winton was also sent to the emergency room, but was treated and released.
