FORREST COUNTY, MS : One dead in Evelyn Gandy Parkway wreck on Tuesday, November 29th 2016
One person died in a two-vehicle accident near the Evelyn Gandy Parkway Tuesday morning.
The wreck happened near the Evelyn Gandy Parkway at Monroe Road around 8:36 a.m., according to MHP Public Information Officer Brent Barfield.According to Barfield, a Chevrolet Malibu driven by Beverly Wheat, 49 of Petal was traveling westbound on the Evelyn Gandy Parkway when she struck a 2000 Mercury driven by an unidentified female from Hattiesburg.
The unidentified victim was attempting to make a turn onto Monroe Road from the parkway when she pulled out in front of Wheat. Wheat struck the passenger side of the vehicle.
The unidentified female passed away from injuries sustained during the wreck, according to Forrest County Coroner Butch Benedict.
Traffic in the westbound lanes were affected as the scene was cleared.
