Baton Rouge, LA : Kenner woman dies after thrown from car in Destrehan crash Monday on Monday, 7th November 2016
A 20-year-old Kenner woman was killed Monday night (Nov. 7) when she was thrown from her car after it collided head-on with another vehicle in Destrehan, Louisiana State Police said.
The agency said Angelica Matamoros died after her 2002 Toyota Camry crashed into a 2002 Honda CRV on U.S. 61 near Ormond Boulevard shortly before 6 p.m.
According to a State Police news release, Matamoros was driving south when "for unknown reasons," her Camry crossed the median into the northbound lanes. Her car collided with the CRV, driven by a 23-year-old LaPlace man.
Matamoros was ejected from the car, then struck a 2014 Ford truck driven by an 28-year-old man. State Police say Matamoros was not wearing a seat belt. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The LaPlace man driving the CRV was taken to an area hospital with "moderate" injuries, police said. The driver of the Ford truck was not injured.
The agency does not suspect Matamoros was impaired, the release says, but her autopsy will include routine toxicology testing. Blood was also taken from the driver of the CRV and the truck for toxicology testing, the release says.
