Scipio, UT : Provo woman in critical condition after rollover crash north of Scipio on Friday, May 13, 2016

A Provo woman is in critical condition after a she was ejected in a rollover crash north of Scipio Friday.

According to the Utah Highway Patrol, at about 6 p.m. Friday evening a trooper came across the vehicle rollover on I-15 about nine miles north of Scipio.

Witnesses on the scene told troopers that they saw the driver of the car driving very aggressively in excess of 100 mph.

The driver passed a semitrailer by driving on the right shoulder of I-15. As the vehicle was passing the semi, it drifted off the shoulder and into the dirt, according to the Utah Highway Patrol. The driver then over-corrected, slid across both northbound lanes of I-15 and then rolled multiples times into the median.

UHP officers said the vehicle rolled for about 200 feet before it came to a rest on its top.

The female occupant, Johanna Scheetz, 28, of Provo, was ejected during the crash. She was taken by ambulance to Central Valley Hospital in Nephi and then taken by medical helicopter to Utah Valley Hospital in Provo.

According to UHP, she was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The male occupant of the vehicle, Patrick Gabbitas, remained in the vehicle as it was rolling and suffered minor injuries. He was transported to Central Valley Hospital by ambulance.

UHP officials say that both Gabbitas and Scheetz gave conflicting reports about who was driving the car. Who was driving and any other possible causes of the accident are still under investigation.

"UHP urges all drivers to obey the speed limit and rules of the road," the agency said in a statement. "Traffic laws are designed to keep all drivers safe and make everyone's commute as quick and easy as possible. Remember, if you crash, you'll may end up in the hospital, rather than at your original destination."

UHP also encourages all motorists to report reckless drivers by calling 911.
