Garden City, KS : A Montezuma man was killed on Sunday, September 10, 2017

A Montezuma man was killed Monday morning in a head-on collision in rural Gray County.

Zachariah E. Hammond, 21, was eastbound on U.S. Highway 56 near milepost 100 at about 7:40 a.m. in his pickup, when he strayed into the westbound lane for unknown reasons and collided with a Kenworth truck driven by Robert L. Hoskinson, 53, of Cimarron, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

Hammond was taken to Western Plains Medical Hospital in Dodge City, where he died. According to the KHP, he was not wearing a seat belt.

Hoskinson also was taken to Western Plains for treatment of his injuries. He also was not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP.
