Lubbock,TX : Lubbock police officer injured, woman arrested on DWI charge after crash on March, Thursday 22nd 2018
A Lubbock police officer was seriously injured and a 57-year-old woman was arrested on a DWI charge following a crash Thursday evening in South Lubbock.
The crash was reported about 7:48 p.m. at 82nd Street and Avenue U, according to Lubbock police.
Upon arrival, responding officers located the officer involved in the crash, a member of the Lubbock Police Department K-9 unit. The officer, who police did not identify by late Thursday, was taken to University Medical Center with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. The K-9 was not injured, and was taken from the scene.
Kasie Whitley, LPD spokeswoman, said the officer was released from UMC by Friday morning.
Investigators believe the officer was traveling east on 82nd street while the passenger vehicle, which was traveling west, attempted to turn south onto Avenue U, colliding with the officer’s vehicle.
The driver of the passenger vehicle, 57-year-old Patricia Holt, was not injured and was arrested at the scene following a DWI investigation, according to police.
Members of the Lubbock Police Department’s Accident Investigation Unit are continuing to investigate.
