Jackson, WI : Woman killed and three other people injured in crash near State Highway 60 in Washington County on Tuesday afternoon, July 19, 2016

One woman was killed and three other people injured in a crash Tuesday afternoon in the town of Jackson.

The crash happened near State Highway 60 and County Highway M around 2:35 p.m.

A 60-year-old Hartford woman had to be extricated from her vehicle. She died while being flown from Flight for Life to Froedtert Hospital.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office said a man, 21, was driving eastbound on State Highway 60 just east of County Highway M when he drove into the southern gravel shoulder to pass two eastbound vehicles in front of him.

He lost control in the gravel and the vehicle slid back into the roadway, crossed the center line into the westbound lane of travel where it struck a westbound vehicle driven by the 60-year-old woman, the Sheriff's Office said. The male driver was taken to Froedtert Hospital by ambulance with serious injuries.

As the westbound vehicle spun off State Highway 60 after initial impact, it hit a parked vehicle in a residential yard adjacent to the highway before stopping next to the house.

A fourth vehicle going east swerved to avoid the crash and went into the south ditch of State Highway 60. The two girls in the car, ages 16 and 17, suffered minor injuries.

State Highway 60 reopened at about 9:15 p.m.
