GAINESVILLE, GA : Children killed in crash on Sunday, January 1st 2017
Two children died in a car crash in Hall County on Sunday.
The father of one of the children is from Walton County, according to The Times of Gainesville.
The newspaper reported a 4-year-old girl and a 1-year-old boy died in the crash on Georgia 60 near Georgia 211 at about 1:50 p.m. Sunday.
The driver was 25-year-old Sabrina McConnell, of Hall County. She and passenger 25-year-old John Wayne Gibbs III, of Walton County, are the parents of the 1-year-old boy who was killed.
The girl who died was the niece of a 21-year-old passenger, Ashley Rose.
Authorities told the newspaper McConnell was driving east on the highway, also known as Candler Road, when she negotiated a left curve and her car went off the road and she overcorrected twice. The driver’s side door area of her vehicle struck a tree, then the car went down an embankment and came to rest overturned on the driver’s side.
Gibbs, Rose and McConnell were transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.
The victims had ties to Amici restaurant in downtown Monroe.
