Keewatin, MN : One person injured, moose dead after crash on Highway 169 Saturday morning, Oct 3, 2015

A passenger was injured in a vehicle that collided with a moose around 1:45 a.m. Saturday morning near Keewatin, while the driver walked away unhurt.
The moose didn’t survive.
Cody T. Hendrix, 28, of Aurora, was driving eastbound in 2014 Ford Fusion on Highway 169 in the right lane near Keewatin when a moose came out of south ditch and proceeded to walk in front of the vehicle. The moose did extensive damage to the vehicle and died at the scene, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Hendrix’s passenger and friend Rochelle M. Turch, 28, also of Aurora, suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Fairview Range Medical Center (FRMC) in Hibbing.
Both were wearing seatbelts at the time of impact, and no air bags deployed. No alcohol was detected, according to the report.
The car was totaled and towed.
The Itasca County Sheriff’s Office assisted.
