Alborn Township, MN : Alborn man seriously injured in ATV crash on the 9100 block of Swan Lake Road in Alborn Township on Thursday, 7th February 2019

A 57-year-old Alborn Township man was seriously injured Thursday after the ATV he was operating was struck by a truck.

St. Louis County deputies responded to the crash at about 4 p.m. on the 9100 block of Swan Lake Road in Alborn Township. According to authorities, the 57-year-old man was plowing snow with his ATV and drove onto Swan Lake Road into oncoming traffic, where he was struck. The driver of the truck, a 26-year-old Alborn man, tried to avoid the collision by steering into the ditch, but when the truck hit a snowbank it caused the truck to spin down the road and into the ATV, a news release said.

The 57-year-old man was transported to Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth by Meadowlands Ambulance with serious injuries. The truck driver was not injured.

The Alborn Fire Department and St. Louis County Rescue Squad also responded to the scene.
