Tupelo, MS : MHP trooper, K-9 officer injured in crash on Friday, May 13, 2016

A Mississippi Highway Patrol officer and his K-9 partner were injured while sitting on the shoulder of Highway 45.

Another car hit their patrol vehicle from behind.

The officer suffered minor injuries, but Smoke, his K-9 partner, was more seriously injured. Smoke is currently at the vet to determine the extent of his injuries.

The driver of the other car suffered serious injuries. Their condition is currently unknown.

Oxford Police Department posted photos of the crash to Twitter, pleading that drivers move over for emergency vehicles on the side of the road.
