Jefferson City, MO : Driver in custody after crash during police chase on Thursday, 27th December 2018

A woman was taken into custody Thursday afternoon after crashing on the west side of Jefferson City following a chase with authorities.

Lt. David Williams, Jefferson City Police Department spokesman, said they were notified just before 2:30 p.m. that the chase was coming into Jefferson City from Moniteau County.

"We were told deputies had to stop a female driver for multiple hazardous driving complaints," Williams said. "She did not yield, and they started the pursuit on U.S. 50, going east."

Williams said the Missouri Highway Patrol was called to assist. When the chase reached the Cole County line, Cole County Sheriff's Department deputies joined the pursuit.

"The pursuit got to the area of Big Horn Drive and entered the Jefferson City limits so we joined the pursuit," Williams said.

Authorities said speeds reached well over 100 mph as officers pursued the wanted vehicle.

"At the Truman Boulevard overpass, around 2:33 p.m., the suspect struck another vehicle, causing the suspect to go into the median across from Longhorn Steakhouse," Williams said. "The woman was taken into custody without incident.

"Meanwhile, the driver of the other vehicle ended up crashing onto Missouri Boulevard and the driver was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries."

Williams said it was undetermined how many charges the woman would be facing and whether they would be filed in Cole or Moniteau counties or in both counties.
